“It is our location, this view and the incredible staff that makes this lodge what it is today,” says Marcus Shroeder General Manager.

Opulence and luxury from another world

Separated into three camps, North, South and Tree Camp each one has its own secluded wonderland and character. Colonial, meets European, meets Maasai, meets Baroque, there is not one distinct influence at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge but a little bit of everything. This is what makes it so foreign, romantic and magical, the perfect escape from everyday life.
Beneath stilted thatch, each room is laden with treasures, from heavily draped velvet curtains, to sparkling chandeliers, to gold plated mirrors, large hearty fireplaces, fresh roses, extensive Persian carpets and antique furniture there is just so much of the world’s finest to take in. The style, elegance and intricate details of the space ensure that it really is a wonder to behold… until you look out the window and see that there’s so much more beauty to explore and to be inspired by.

Boasting the most spectacular views of the Crater

Looking out the window of your storybook style castle, suspended high up on the rim, you are immediately rendered breathless as you gaze out over one of the most iconic natural wonders of the world. Once an enormous volcano, the Ngorongoro crater has now become an ecosystem in itself and home to an unbelievable collection of game. The exquisite salt lake, fever tree forests, leafy woodlands, lush swamps and golden savannahs within the crater combine to make it feel like a more modern, African version of the Garden of Eden. It can be cloudy in the mornings and sometimes rather chilly but don’t fear the warmth of the African sun shines through, giving way to the magic below.

An abundance of enchanting delights and delicacies

Whether it’s the heart-warming smile of your private butler, the box of sweet treats in your suite or the incredibly romantic rose petals and bubble bath that captivates you… it certainly won’t be the last time as this lodge is full of surprises. As one of andbeyond’s flagship properties the team at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge have heaps of experience and certainly know how to you win you over. After a lovely game drive down in the crater, some beading with the Maasai ladies or some archery for the kids, a decadent evening drink awaits you on the deck or in the cosy sitting room. The food is very definitely fit for kings, the plates gold, the service silver and the flavours vibrant and colourful. Sit on the high backed chairs and choose from your very own personalised menu. Whether you choose the brandied chicken liver parfait, the grilled beef fillet with potato rosti, the homemade panna cotta, or all three and more you will no doubt be wholeheartedly thrilled.
