Big Five sightings like nowhere else
A definitely bucket-list destination on Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit, the Ngorongoro Crater offers possibly the best Big 5 safari experience in the unique setting of an ancient volcanic caldera. Home to some 30 000 animals, and some uniquely diverse habitats there is so much to see and do. Game is prevalent, predators are abundant and it’s not unusual to see the Big 5 in a single day. It is essentially the best place to see a lot of incredible wildlife in a very short space of time! You will not be disappointed.
Exquisite natural beauty
The Ngorongoro Crater and surrounding highlands together form one of Africa’s most beautiful regions. Volcanic craters form stunning backdrops to some of the most fertile and richest grazing grounds in Africa. The most famous such crater is without question Ngorongoro, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and home to the highest density of big game in Africa, including all the big five and plenty of predators. Ngorongoro is justifiably one of the continent’s most famous safari destinations.
Luxury on the edge of the world
Some of Tanzania’s most gorgeous luxury accommodation sits perched right on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, offering some of the best views in Africa, if not the world. Staying at these prime-location lodges will put you first in the queue to drive down to the crater floor in the morning to explore the wonders within!
Getting There
The gateway to Northern Tanzania is Arusha. From there you can hop around the parks of the northern circuit and to the crater with chartered flights, or you can drive and do it all by safari vehicle.
