The interminable golden savannahs provide an overwhelming sense of space and miles of bushveld to explore. The Serengeti National Park is the most photographed and filmed game reserve in Africa. Known as ‘The Land that Moves on Forever’, it really is a soul-stirring destination, the most idyllic African safari and a place that will change you forever. It is the Africa we dream of, an abundance of beauty, wildlife, endless rolling plains, bright blue skies and clear summer days. The park is nearly 15 000 square kilometres and is divided into three parts: the Serengeti Plains, the Western Corridor, and the Northern Serengeti. Each area is home to exclusive luxury camps showcasing only the highest standards of African hospitality. These lodges are great for families, honeymoons and all other kinds of African safaris.
High densities of game all year round
The Serengeti boasts the highest game density in all of Africa and as a result the game viewing is simply spectacular. At any one time you will be in awe of the amount of game that you see whether its elephants, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo or giraffe… there will no doubt be more than one of them, and most likely more than you can count! The Serengeti is particularly famous not only for its endless plains but also for its healthy population of lion.
Home to Africa’s greatest spectacle, the Great Migration
It is most renowned as the site of the annual Great Migration, when an estimated 1.5 million antelope – mostly wildebeest — migrate to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. This epic, seasonal journey is a deeply moving experience; it’s a real natural wonder. The white-bearded wildebeest, zebras, topis and many other antelope migrate from South in the Serengeti, to North in the Mara and back again in search of fresh grazing. The great migration is most definitely one for the bucketlist, the numbers are awe-inspiring, game drives exhilarating and if you are lucky enough to see a crossing… this really is a an unforgettable, jaw-dropping, experience-of- a-lifetime
